Confidently Change Your Appearance
A modern rhinoplasty involves making changes in the bone and cartilage framework of the nose through small incisions made either inside the or just outside the nose, thereby changing its shape. The skin is merely allowed to "re-drape" over this new framework. The experienced plastic surgeon is able to "customize" the intended result to each patient's needs, and not create a stylized appendage in the same mold for everyone. My intention is to make your nose look better, yet natural, like it belongs on your face. This speaks to the harmony that an Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon must keep in mind when addressing the nose and face.
The initial consultation allows me to fully understand a prospective patient's desires and to fully evaluate their nasal and facial features. I also take preoperative photographs so that during a follow-up visit to I can show the patient what I expect to do for them with rhinoplasty surgery. Reviewing the preoperative photographs gives my patients a much better understanding of the planned procedure.
Upon completion of a rhinoplasty, a lightweight plastic splint is molded over your new nasal profile to stabilize the healing bones and cartilage, and to allow adherence of the nasal skin to the new framework. This splint stays in place for approximately five days. On occasion, an internal splint or packing are also utilized. If packing is used, it is removed the next day. A rhinoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, whichever is felt to be more desirable for you, and is done an a day surgery basis, with no need for an overnight stay. The operation can be performed in the hospital or in my private ambulatory surgical facility, depending on particular circumstances.
